Paint correction is also commonly referred to as paint polishing. By machine buffing and leveling the paint, defects such as towel-induced swirls, scratches, scuffs, and even hard water spots can be removed. Then, the paint is ready for machine polishing which can really improve the paint's gloss to give it that spit-shine finish. Many detail shops cut corners by hiding the defects instead of actually removing them.
